 Crazy Ice Cream Ride
Today's ride turned crazy. There were 8 riders today - Ken, Kimberly, Mike, Nick, Dave, Susan, I think his name is Jim, and me. Ken was in a big rush today. Cis called just north of Linky Stone so I had to hustle to catch up. Then everyone got across Sulphur Springs except me. When I didn't get across I really didn't get across, so I was hustling to catch up. I was about a quarter mile south of Watkins Bridge Road when I up ahead I saw a bike flying up high and a dirt bike tearing out from under it. I stopped and called 911 and reported two motorcycles on the trail and that one had hit a bicycle and was tearing off. The second dirt bike was caught in the bicycles and couldn't get by. Then the first bike turned around and ran back at the bicycles. The guy who's bike had been hit tried to stop him and tried to tackle him on the bike. What a crazy sight. I was doing a play by play with 911. Then I went on to the Creamery with the rest of our group. I had a maple nut / chocolate twist. I relayed the story as to what was going on behind them. They had met the dirt bikes and were going to call 911 but didn't. Then we headed back south and Ken took off like a scalded dog. Susan was struggling to keep up, so I pulled her along. We were just behind the group when Dave came off the back. He just couldn't hold the pace. I was still pulling Susan and tried to get Dave to latch on but he was spent, so I dropped back and just tried to set a pace that they cold keep with. Then we met Andy the motorcycle cop and I stopped to see about the earlier fracas. He said that the bicyclist had tried to stop the dirt bikes by throwing his bike in front of them! CRAZY!!! Dave and I rode together and chatted the rest of the way in. We rode in the rain for about 4 miles. By the time I was home the sun was out and I was soaked. CRAZY!!!
