After three days of on again / off again wet weather and a week and a half of coughing the congestion out of my chest it was good to see the sun shining this morning. Even though it had turned suddenly cold I knew that I had to get in a ride. I headed out East North downtown to Washington and on to the Swamp Rabbit. I rode it north of Furman to the warehouse that is being torn down across the trail. I had considered riding on to the north end of the trail but figured that 20 miles would be enough to start back again. The warehouse north of campus has the first big section of it torn down and cleared off, but the taller part of the building is still standing. When I passed by the softball stadium the girls were scrimmaging. So on the ride back south I went through campus and to the baseball stadium but the boys weren't there. i could hear the announcer for the Western Carolina/Furman football game in the distance. I cruised by the girls softball and watched a couple of minutes. I also went to help find a foul ball that bounced into the bushes down by the trail. Finally I headed back home on a chilly day. I was hoping to pass my year goal of 2000 miles this week, but I'm still 16 miles short. I should pass it on the next ride, but I will be in Norman, Oklahoma for training over the next two weeks. If I have time I'll rent a bike and ride there otherwise I'll have to wait until I am home again.
