Had a mostly flat day as I explored a portion of the Tucson Loop, the local bike path, that will if funds hold out will someday circumnavigate Tucson. Tucson is definitely a bicycling friendly community as the path was in excellent shape and frequented by numerous and varied groups of riders. Saw many racers, homeless, commuters, hipsters and hopsters astride bikes riding at various speeds. Talked with one rider who said that the portion I was riding on went at least forty miles and it is possible to ride around Tucson with only a few miles still on roads. Only had to cross two or three roads over the ride and only one of those roads had traffic on it Riding on the roads here is pretty nice too as most avenues have wide and good surfaced bike lanes. Only rode fifteen miles to the south along a small river and turned around as want to do some climbing tomorrow. Got some bonus miles in as I got lost on a couple of spurs on the return trip.
