Today I drove to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and parked across the river at Mt Calvary Baptist as the Cafe was having their Holiday Flea today and the parking lot was full. I started down the trail to Linky Stone Park downtown, then turned back north to go up the trail. When I came back to the Brammlett Street crossing there was a train blocking the trail and the left hand turn. So I turned to the right and rode over to Washington Street and then over the "Hump Bridge" to get back to the trail. That bridge rises out of nowhere high enough to cross over three sets of railroad tracks. Then I headed on up the trail. When I arrived at Travelers Rest there was a terrible traffic jam on the streets and the trail. I think their Christmas Parade was this morning. After I worked my way through the mass of people I followed the trail to the north end then turned back south. TR had cleared out by the time I passed back through it and I picked it up heading back down the trail. I ran into Elissa heading north while I was heading south. When I got back to the Cafe I was at 24 miles and really wanted to get another quarter, so I rode south to the Swamp Rabbit Cross Fit Center, then turned back north. I rode back to the cafe, put my bike up, and walked over to check out the Flea. I ran into Don (Elissa's husband). He was heading to Paris Mountain to ride it with my friends Ken and Steve. I scoped out the Flea then went inside and bought turkey pesto melt for me and a ham and swiss for Cis with chips and peanut butter choclate chips cookies to take home. The Cafe is an all organic and mostly local cafe and grocery.
