In the 2009 goals thread, I posted this list. Allow me to examine these goals a little closer.

1. Get fit enough to ride my singlespeed on singletrack.
2. Ride new trails. (Nine Mile, Levis-Trow Mound-IMBA Epic)
3. Help build new singletrack. (At Kettle Moraine, CAMBA, and in my backyard.)
4. Increase my average speed on my road bike. And increase the average miles per ride.
5. Increase my average speed on my mountain bike. And increase the average miles per ride.
6. Improve my personal best times in the races I enter.
7. Continue to Ice Bike.
8. Do more singletrack night riding.
9. Do more group ride events.
10. Have fun.

1. Ok, the first time I tried to ride my Super V-1 at Rock Lake (see journal 5/31/08) I thought I was Gonna Die! Yeah, Yeah, it was after a long morning ride but still, it was embarrasing. I've changed the gearing from 32/16 to 32/18 so that should help.

2. I've got an IMBA Epic a few hours away and haven't ridden there yet. There is also a new trail at Blue Mound State Park.

3. With 5 wooded acres and a quarry in the backyard, it's time to make some fun trails to ride back there. And I'd like to join the crew at Kettle for some trail work there. And of course the CAMBA trails.

4. I'm not a speed freak, but being slow means I get dropped pretty early into a ride by people I'd like to ride and talk with. Getting faster would help me get to know some new riders I usually only see at the parking lot before and after the ride.

5. (same as 4.)

6. I was able to improve my FireHouse Fantasy 50 time this year. However, my times for the Ride The Rock (Rock Cut), Short & Fat and Kettle Fall Color Festival were slower. Skipped the Cable Off-Road Classic, so I should ride that race again this year.

7. Studded ice tires are fun!!! Use them!

8. Didn't get out much this year, maybe new trails in the back yard would help.

9. Missed out on a couple fun group rides this year. Roun 'Da Manure, Tour De Fort...

10. Hopefully I'll meet some new friends from bikejournal. Don't forget to ride the vintage bikes.

I hope everyone has a great 2009 whether you have goals or not.
Live Long And Prosper.
