Today is Ken's Sunday ride, but he was out of town and the other regulars were out of town as well. So he asked me to lead the ride. I like riding and sweeping the ride, but I hate leading. I drove to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and rode down the trail to the entrance of the zoo. At 2 o'clock I saw one rider in the parking lot and asked if he was doing the Spinners Ride. He said that he was and I told him that it was just him and me and off we went. The other rider was a new rider named Dan. We chatted as we rode up the trail. We were just short of Furman when Bill D joined us. He was a little late but figured that we'd still be there when he arrived. Ken usually has things to tell us so we don't get going for a while, but Dan and I just took off. We were just north of Furman when another rider David joined us. We rode on to TR where David left us. So Dan, Bill, and I rolled to the Forest for a snack. I had a cup of coffee and a granola berry parfait. We rode back down the trail with Bill setting a good pace. I let them go at River Street and turned around to go back to the Cafe where the truck was. In there I bought a chocolate doughnut with a glaze that included crushed candy canes and a pair of scones to take home.
