I was totally waylaid by some nasty bug last week and decided to get back on the bike and give it a try today after work. It was middle 40s and overcast and I know that I am still very weak. But I headed out East North to see if I could make it to Furman and back on my normal route. I made it but was also very gassed for the final mile. I am wanting to ride the "First Fifty" on New Years Day. It is a 56 plus mile ride from Furman to Table Rock and back. I was iffy when I decided to do it and after the past week am wondering if I have enough in the tank to do it. If I can get in 3 or4 rides over the next few days I will likely give it a shot and if I don't have that much in me I can always turn back. Today's ride was okay but I was really gassed after 17 miles.
