 Easy RIde
I sent out an email yesterday to several of my riding buddies, knowing that there might not be any show up. But Kimberly, Don and Elissa, and I road today. I drove to the Swamp Rabbit Cafe and rode down to the zoo entrance to see if there would be any riders show up. Kimberly rolled in, then Don and Elissa rolled in. We headed up the trail, but the trail in the park was covered with mud from the three days of heavy rain, so I headed out to bypass Cleveland Park and Falls Park. We road over to River Street and got back to the trail from there. Here on the day after Christmas the temps were in the 70s and the sun was shining, so the trail was very crowded. We worked our way up the trail and rolled into Duke's Doggs. It was busting open with customers, so we waited a good while to order. Once we ordered we took a table out on the patio and we kicked back and chatted for a long time. It took a while to get our orders ready, but we just kept chatting in the gorgeous weather. I had a turkey dog with no bun, covered with onions, peppers, and mustard then covered in cole slaw. I also had Kristy's great fries and lemonade. One of Elissa's freinds, David, stopped by for a little bit. We just kept talking and finally got ready to go when Officer Mike came by. Mike always has a lot to say, then he told us that he had taken up a new hobby and he pulled out a wooden recorder that he had made and played a tune on it. We were about to go when Kristy came out to see all of us. She was very busy with orders, but always tries to make time for her customers and she wanted to see each of us. We exchanged pleasantries with her then got on our way down the trail. It would take us close to an hour to get down the trail and Kimberly had another hour to ride home, so we needed to get going so she would make it home before dark. We rode back down the trail then I rode with Don and Elissa to their home to get back up toward the Cafe. We stopped at their neighbor's house that had just been painted bright blue. The painter and his two assistants were going on about that color and had a board with several other shades of blue that they were about to put on it. We had a time with them and their colors that was good for a lot of laughs. Then I climbed the hill and cut over to the trail and back to the cafe. Today's ride put me over 5500 miles for the year.
