Had planned to head north and ride in the state park and highway A1A around Daytona. Have a loop that is one of my favorite routes in the country which involves about the only riding in a jungle I'll probably ever do even if it is only single canopy. Ran out of time though as I took a leisurely scenic drive through southern Florida in the morning and then encountered a huge delay as the I-95 north had been completely closed due to a fatal multi-truck crash involving a tanker full of pesticide. Instead of riding my route I spent a couple of hours sitting in a traffic jam. Did finally get to my destination at Flagler Beach a little before dark and had enough time for a short loop along the ocean. Ride was pleasant and but got tired out riding the short distance so maybe it was for the best I didn't have more time. Weather doesn't look to promising in the north so I plan on this being my last ride for the year. Exceeded most but not all of my goals for 2011. Exceeded my goal of 8000 miles with 12669 total. Exceeded climbing goal of 528000 ft with 756698 ft. Wanted to match last year's 3rd in NY finish and did that by finishing in 1st. Failed to have an overall average speed faster that 17.0 mph by only scoring a 16.27mph. Fastest ride of the year was 26.1 mph in a 10 mile ITT. Longest ride was 138 miles done in the Run to the Lake in June. Had 326 total rides for the year. Club exceeded our goal of one equivalent lap around the world by scoring a total of 28,618 miles which also left us with most miles for NY State clubs. Ended up riding thirty-three organized events in five different states. Not a bad year overall.
