Today I rode to Cleveland Park for Ken's Sunday ride. Five of us left the zoo and headed up the trail - Ken, Jason, Curtis, Bill D, and me. Ken and I both told Bill that we had been missing him. I figured today's ride would tax me since I am considerably slower than the rest of these guys. Jason took off setting the pace. I was hanging on until we came to a railroad crossing. The train had just crossed and the first three made it across then Ken beat a car going across, but I was trapped. I spent the next mile chasing those guys down. They stopped at the cafe for Curtis to take a nature break and I took off ahead of them. Once I was out there I set a pretty good pace for the next 4 miles, but when we started climbing at Furman Jason and Curtis passed me. I rode into TR with BIll and Ken while Jason and Curtis went on out. We stopped at the Forrest where I had a cup of coffee and a white chocolate chip cookie. I also bought one for Cis. Steve and Ron were there waiting to talk to us. We chatted for a while then BIll said tha he had to get going, so we left. Ken and Bill were chatting as we left TR, but about a mile and a half out I started feeling every bump in the road. I slwed down and felt the back tire and it was flat. Ken and Bill had gone ahead and I didn't feel like changing inner tubes, so I called Cis to come pick me up. Shortly after calling Cis my phone rang and it was Ken wondering where I was. I told him that I had flatted out and tha Cis was on her way to pick me up. If I had stayed and changed the inner tube, it would have been dark before I made it home. That is my 5th flat in 5 1/2 years on this bike and over 16K miles.
