I've always wanted to leave for our annual ski trip weekend on Thursday night, mostly becuase of the excitement I would feel I would just want to get on the road and get to Dubuque. Well, this year it finally happened, mainly becuase we wanted to stop in Le Claire, IA and make a quick visit to the American Pickers' place.
So after riding my bike to/from work, Jacque went to pick-up the rental car we were going to use for the weekend, then came back home loaded it up and was on the road a little after 7 PM.
The itinerary was to drive to Peoria, IL (about 3 hrs drive), spend the night there, then meander on way on into IA with a little detour to Le Claire (right off the interstate when we cross the mighty Mississippi from IL into IA). It was also a nice way to break up the 5 1/2+ hour drive from STL to Dubuque.
A bit of a different way to spend Valentines Day.
