Today I headed up the trail to get in a quick quarter. The ride up the trail was fairly uneventful. I switched my bike computer from miles to average speed just before getting to TR. Lately I have been consistently disappointed in my average speed, so I thought that I'd watch my speed and see where I am losing so much. I know that riding up and down the trail includes a lot of stop and go riding, so it's hard to get your speed up. But lately my speed has been pretty far down. I stopped in TR an Dukes Doggs and had a turkey dog with turkey chili, peppers, mustard, and onions with fries and lemonade. Kristy was telling about the cruise that she just finished. An older customer and his granddaughter were telling about cruises and traveleing as well. Then the granddaughter started talking and once she started she just kept going. There was a lot of information in her waiting to get out. On the trip back down the trail I went on campus again and stopped at the baseball practice. The girl that I met on Saturday was there and we talked for a couple of minutes. Her name in Maddy. I hustled back down the trail and watched the computer to see where I am losing speed. When I was watching my speed I picked up the average by about 1 1/2 mph. Maybe I need to keep the computer on Average Speed and watch it more closely. When I ride with slow groups I expect to average their speed, but when I ride by myself I should be able to keep my speed a little higher.
