Today I didn't feel like just running up and down the trail, so I took off thinking that I would go by Velo Valet and skirt the base of Paris Mountain. I went down to the park but stayed off the trail until close to the F-86. I took the trail from there to short of the Cafe, then cut across some old neighborhoods to Velo Valet. Carlo was scraping the metal ceiling in the building. He stopped to tell me his vision for Velo Valet. He runs a mobile bike shop, but he is working on a small building where he can have like a coffee shop atmosphere and repair bikes. He doesn't plan to have bikes for sale there, but will custom build bikes for customers. From there I cut across the neighborhood and worked my way across Poinsett Highway, by Cherrydale Shopping Center, across Pleasantburg Drive, onto Worley Road, then to the base of Paris Mountain. I took an wandering route around Paris Mountain and really worked my legs hard over there. I finally made it to Old Buncombe and cut through the Furman campus back to the trail. I followed the trail back to town and home. Once I was out of the heavy climbing around PM I checked my speed and was stuck at 11.5 mph. I hustled back down the trail and pulled it back to 12.0 when I got home.
