I've Got Something to Say

Had a good day snowboarding today. Wasn't quite a great day, but it was a really good day.
The temp today stayed in the mid-30's, and there wasn't much of a crowd on the slopes - no long lines at the lifts, nothing longer than a minute or two - so there was more runs down the slope than we are accustomed to. On one trip up the lift, I was riding with Jen & we were talking about this and realizing that it was only 10:30 yet it seemed so much later becuase we have made more runs than normal.
On each run I pushed myself a little bit to work on my 'carving' skills and I felt like I made some progress that area. Part of this was probably because there was a lot of slush on the slopes, so they were not quite as fast as they've been the last couple years. However, I wasn't as competent on the dismounts from the lift, falling probably 80-85% the time. Speaking of falling, I only remember falling once during my downhill runs, and fell a couple other times in transition - that's the time of just starting a run or finishing a run & trying to maneuver to the lift line; sometimes going slower is harder to maintain balance than going faster.
Really enjoyed hanging with and chasing a couple groups throughout the day, and especially finishing up the day with several runs down Andrews with John Harris. We would ride up on the lift and wonder how much longer we wanted to stay out (time was slipping past 4:30 and creeping up on 5:00). Finally, as the top of the hour was drawing nigh, we decided to call it a day without having fully exhausting ourselves – there is more skiing to be had on Sunday.
