I planned a ride today from Heritage Park in Simpsonville to Gray Court and back. I had a few people say they would come, but it turned out to be Erica and me. It rained all night, but the sun was out this morning and the wind was blowing. It was in the 40s with a sustained wind of 28 mph gusting up to 36 mph. The wind made it a very challenging ride. There is only one tough hill on this mostly flat ride, but that hill was straight into the teeth of the wind. Erica was losing the battle with the wind, so I spent a fair amount of time waiting for her to catch up. My front shifter broke with about 5 miles left to ride. The front derailleur was on the small chain ring and we spent the rest of the ride riding into that wind, so the small deralleur was fine. I'll get it fixed tomorrow. It was a ride to remember.
