Abundant sunshine today made it feel warmer than mid fifties and finally got a day with the wind under ten miles an hour. Wind was scheduled to shift from the west to the south sometime in the afternoon and despite my experience with the predictions seldom being even close, I pedaled off to Blossum to catch a tailwind early. Headed down the highway instead of Post Mill Rd as I really wasn't interested in dealing with dogs and sprints early in a fairly long early season ride. Really turned out nice as I had an eight foot shoulder separated from traffic by a row of thank-you-mums. Had a good ride for the first thirty miles on what really was more rolling flats than rolling hills. Wind didn't shift as I had hoped down below Mintor and had to do six or seven miles of moderate headwind. Looked forward to riding to Glory and got a boost when I saw the sign said it was only ten miles ahead. I did ride through Glory but didn't spend much time there as I had to sprint a dog most of the way through town. Surged a little in the crosswind over the last ten miles and wasn't nearly as tired as I thought I would be after fifty. I think the warm sun really helps.
