Latest snowfall has melted and the sun warmed it up into the mid-forties. A cold north wind was ever present and took most of the joy out of the ride despite the bright sun. Decided at the onset that today would be a mild calorie burning day as had a hard day on the trainer yesterday. Spun a high cadence into the wind on the way out and on the first climb. Didn't feel too bad on the climb and only stood up occasionally to stretch the back. Worst part of the ride was after the climb atop the ridge where the wind felt much harder then the fourteen mile an hour prediction. Between the wind and the climb, I don't think my speed climbed above fifteen in the first hour of riding. Spent most of the time watching the odometer count down the miles to turn where I would be out of the wind. Secondary roads are still covered with sand and probably will remain so until we get a hard rain. Highlight of the day was the second tailwind assisted mild climb. Last ten miles had a crosswind and didn't develop much speed. Overall a rather cold and disappointing ride whose only merit was it was less painful than the trainer. Wind shifts to the south tonight, so tomorrows ride, even with a similar temperature, should be better. The sixty degree weather last week really spoiled me.
