First ride of the year in shorts and a short sleeve jersey as temperature in Arkansas rose to the upper seventies. Started in the county park in Caddo Valley below the dam and headed into the steep climbs to Hot Springs. Legs felt great in the balmy weather and climbing went well though probably spent too much time out of the saddle to be efficient but it was lots of fun. Didn't head into Hot Springs today as didn't want to ride in the heavy traffic so immediately headed back up the highway climb on RT 7 after the scenic fast descent. Traffic was heavy today on the highway. There is a wide shoulder but it has rumble strips which make avoiding hazards a jarring events. Took a detour at the top of the climb above the dam and toured the state park. Park had several miles of good roads and scenery and provided some quality riding. Only drawback today was that my two bottles of water were not adequate for sixty miles in the hot dry air. Still a very enjoyable day on the bike.
