Groundhog failed to see his shadow and forecast an early spring. Hope today was an early indication. We had blue skies, and the clouds were scarce. As soon as the temperature got above fifty, I headed out on the road bike. Despite the bright sunshine I likely didn't produce much vitamin D as except for my face I was completely covered. Headed south into a steady headwind with intention of collecting some low aerobic miles. Shoulders were for the most part in good riding condition except for a short section in Pine Valley that is pretty hazardous. Legs felt good and sprit was high throughout the ride. It was an uneventful ride, if I don't count a close encounter with a nearly side swiping school bus. Most exciting part of the ride was seeing a street sweeper in the Heights. I haven't seen one of those in operation in probably thirty years. Unfortunately, it was only cleaning a section of potholes in an intersection that were about to be filled in with cold patch. Be nice if they would use them to clean up the debris on the shoulders but I guess there isn't any money left for that anymore. Ride home was a breeze as I spun the tailwind, I was tempted to pick up the pace, but it would have upset my computer nanny. I remembered bonking on a similar early ride last year and was pleased that the legs felt strong deep into the ride. The legs started to get a little heavy very late in the ride, but I think that was more of a result from yesterday's climbing on the trainer. Legs were a little sore after I got off the bike but hopefully, they will recover overnight as tomorrow looks to have similar weather but with a little more wind.
