Drove down to Galveston and took a ride along the beach on 3005. Headed into a stiff wind again and rode until I got to the tollbridge near Mud Island. Took a break under the bridge and heard the first of the thunder. Thought I might be able to outrun the approaching storm with the good tailwind but couldn't. Light rain soon turned to heavy rain while lightning steadily struck the ocean. Ride still was tolerable until the sweat started to wash into my eyes making it difficult to see. Managed to make it back to the concrete boardwalk and rode it for the last few miles without fear of being struck from behind.
