Got up at the crack of dawn, around 8:00 AM, to get a ride in before work. Temperature was a cool 65 F due to the high humidity. First few miles of the ride was rough as legs and lungs are still showing effects of the flu. Still was a nice cruise though once I got through the first series of rollers. Coolness didn't last though and was soon dripping sweat when not in the wind. Checked out the horses and cattle along the route who work grazing on the fresh green grass. Ride improved once I got to Crandell and caught the tailwind up the climb. FM 741 is all new pavement now though there are still two bridges under construction and traffic is limited to one lane. Felt good as the ride finished as the temperature had risen quickly into the seventies and several people were out mowing their lawns providing the wonderous smells of fresh mown grass with a hint of spring chives. Overall not a pleasant ride yet but it had enough promise of better rides to come.
