Today's rain passed so the Swamp ROMP was on. I left the house and rode down through Cleveland and Falls Parks to get to the Cafe. The Swamp ROMP met there - Joe F, Joe Y, Art, Jeff, Alice, and me. We waited a bit for a couple of riders that didn't show then left. I took my spot at the rear of the pack. A couple of times other riders tried to talk to Alice that is deaf, but she paid no attention to them! We made it to Furman and picked up Cis there. Alice and Cis hit it off very well. When we stopped to eat they talked a lot. I think that Alice was glad to have someone that she could sit and talk to. I had chances to sit and talk with every member of the ride at one point or another. I teased Jeff and fair amount, had a chance to get to know Art. I had never met Joe Y before and had a good chance to talk with him. So it was a very social ride. We made it to TR and went to Upcountry Provisions Bistro and Bakery. I had a traveler sandwich with chips and pickle slice and lemonade to drink. It was a very good sandwich. Alice and Cis talked all through the meal and Cis was able to interpret general conversation to Alice.Riding back down the trail I talked with Art a good bit and discovered that he is (or was) a pilot. We dropped Cis off at Furman, then the rest of the group at the Cafe. Joe Y and I rode together as far as Free Hub Cycles where he stopped. I stopped at TTR on the way home to adjust the rear derailleur and they also straightened out an issue with the front quick release. The guys at TTR were impressed that I'm commuting with the bike.
On a sad note, I rode by the slain officer's car below the Law Enforcement Center. It has been parked there as a memorial to him. One of the TV people was doing a broadcast from there when I passed by.
