Yea! No rain this morning. Time to go for a bike ride - only the second time since the first of the year that I'm not riding to or from work, and with some friends I haven't seen since before the 1st of the year, too.
The weather was beautiful this morning, maybe a bit chilly early on because of the dampness, but sill enjoyable. I ran into a mechanical issue about 30 miles into the ride - a few miles before our breakfast break. I was riding down the trail w/Jen and all of a sudden one of my tires was leaking air and it was very audible as it went round and round before stopping. The air noise made it easy to find the location and it turns out the rear tire was at the end of its life. It was worn thin, thus the puncture of the tube, and there were exposed threads in the area. Jen mentioned that there was a bike shop about 1/2 mile or so away from where we were. So I thought it wise to walk there & get the tire replaced, rather than fixing the tube and risking additional issues with the tire getting to breakfast, or even going directly back to my truck.
So I walked a little ways up the trail to cross the parking lot of Home Depot, then crossed the street and walked across the lot of QuickTrip to the bike shop. They were pretty busy, but were very nice and got me fixed up pretty quickly. I then made my way to Fiona's where everyone else had finished eating their meals and was paying for the services. I ended up ordering an bacon/egg sandwich to go - that I ate outside on the sidewalk while the others patiently & graciously millled around. We then folled off & finished the ride.
Today is Jacque's birthday, and for Christmas I got her (us) a pair of tickets to the Come to the Well tour featuring Casting Crowns, Matthew West, and Royal Taylor. Awesome concert! Could really feel the beat of the music (i.e. bass drum) throughout the night - sitting center floor in row 11 was totally awesome, too.
