Fairly nice day after another two days mostly below freezing temperatures. I had a hard day on the computrainer yesterday so just wanted to do some pleasant miles today. Planned on starting out on the steepness that is Havana Glen Road, but access was closed due to water main work. Opted for the New Odessa road with a mile and a half of seven percent engineered highway climb. Climbed easily into a headwind that lasted for the next seventeen miles. Ride improved when I turned out of the wind and headed up the twisting Swartout Hill. The road climbs along up a stream up a steep walled hollow. Snow and ice were still well represented in the hollow but it was the warmest part of the ride as the sun was directly overhead and the heat reflected off the road, and there was absolutely no wind. After a lackluster two mile climb I spun the next twenty five miles of downgrade and crosswinds and finished with a much appreciated tailwind for the last few miles. Headwind section was not pleasant, but after I got that out of the way it was a pretty good slow day on the bike.
