Drove endlessly to stay ahead of cold weather heading into the south and got to the promised lands of Florida where temperatures were anticipated to be in the mid-eighties for at least two days. Finally got to White Springs which is near my old spring training territory of Lake City, FL. Unfortunately, I was too tired from the drive to attempt the Jasper loop and took a nap instead. I did get out and do a shorter loop around the potash mines north of White Springs. Felt incredibly weird and comfortable riding in eighty degree weather after spending Feb in NY with an average temperature of eleven degrees. Headed out into a in my face crosswind with my legs feeling good. There wasn’t much terrain with the road being slightly undulating flatland, but it turned out to be some pleasant riding. Tired a little after the first twenty miles and slowed down considerably. Put in a couple of good surges but couldn’t keep a good base speed up. Hopefully I’ll get more horsepower out of the body with a good night’s sleep and less time behind the wheel. Really can’t complain about the weather today.
