Cold front was expected in Daytona and so drove south to Okeechobee to continue riding in the warm weather. Rode the Lost trail from Okeechobee to Makala Bridge and back. Temperature was again in the eighties and there was a very hot sun on the ride. Tried to incorporate some mile long intervals into the ride to break things up but got decreasing returns after four or five and went back to cruising. Only excitement was a wild animal encounter with a bald eagle. A rather large one was up to something on the edge of the trail as I approached and he turned and bared his beak at me as I passed him. I got a good look at the beak and determined if he lunged at me that nasty looking beak would easily flay my calf muscles from the bone. Thought I might be okay if he got me in my massive quad and he was quite tall enough to catch me there. I swerved away from him and gave him as much room as I could and escaped unharmed. Of the two of us I felt the more endangered. Continued on to the end of the trail and turned and headed back. Wind picked up a little and had much slower speed on the way back. Did see a helicopter gun ship cruising over the lake and again I felt severely outclassed. The trail is nice that there is no traffic and one can listen to music but overall it is fairly boring riding.
