Had two of my three winter conditions met for riding outside as there was sun, the temperature was near seventy, but the wind was rather nasty. The seventy degrees though made up for any of unpleasantness caused by the wind. Had a hard day on the trainer yesterday morning and was to shelled to ride outside yesterday afternoon even though it was a pretty fair day. With the legs taxed heavily yesterday, I figured a long slow ride was my best option. Rode the Corning- River Road route that has one early climbing section of eight miles then fifty miles of rolling downgrade. The first twenty-two miles including the climb was into a stiff wind. Took it easy on the climb and spent my time looking for the presence of ice or snow. I was hoping I had seen the end of it for this winter and in fact didn't see any until I got to Chambers. There the accursed snow was still present on the north side yards of some houses. That was the extent of the excitement for the ride. Kept the head down to Corning And caught a strong tailwind to Elmira via the River Road. Did see one other rider out today on a mountain bike. Punched a couple of rollers assisted by the wind and that was the extent of the work I did in the ride. Had a following crosswind down the slot which was a little disappointing as was hoping to do a little tail wind assisted speed work to finish off the ride. Turned out to be a good touring ride but am afraid the seventy degree stuff is going to spoil me, as last week I thought forty-five was warm.
