After surviving yesterday's short ride without any apparent ill effects I tried something a bit more challenging today. Started out on the climb up New Odessa hill and that didn't turn out well at all. I usually time myself on the climb and if I don't break the ten minute mark, it is usually a good indication that the body is stressed and I turn around and return home. Today I barely broke twelve minutes, but since I already knew the body was taxed due to the recent illness I opted to keep going. Body didn't recover after the climb and ride continued to decline as I pushed on the Alpine. I had another long slow climb out of the junction to Sullivinville that seemed to take forever. Took an hour to get to the top of the climb. Once over the top I soft pedaled the downhill into a headwind to Horseheads. The winter hasn't been kind to RT 13 which was in terrible shape last fall. Coasted with a tailwind from Horseheads to Montour and felt a little better rolling into town. Tacked on a repeat yesterday's route on the end of the Sullivinville loop to finish off the day. Climb out of Watkins didn't go too well but was much, much better than the two earlier climbs. Another rough day on the bike.
