Rode up the southwest side of the mountain. Had to ride a fairly flat seventeen mile section to get to the base of the climb. The backside climb is nearly fourteen miles of twisting, undulating road of mild grade 3-7% with occasional 10-14% grade kickers thrown in to break things up. Beautiful climbing road but the road surface is not smooth enough to make it good for descending. Eventual got back on to the section of hills that devasted me last week at the Cheaha Challange and although I did not hammer them by any means, I ascended them in good form. Had a good day on the bike and it felt great to be out of the cold weather and back where the trees have leaves.
