Rain has moved on for a day or so and the sun warmed the temperature up into the high fifties fairly early in the day. I opted to waited for the days high temperature of sixty to arrive before I headed out. Downside of the ride was the days highest wind at a steady fourteen miles an hour and diminishing sunshine. Still was nice enough for the first exposed knee ride of the year. Actually saw another rider out today which has become rather rare around here lately. Highlight of the ride was two trips through Watkins Glen without stopping for any red lights. Low point of the ride was the first dozen miles up hill into the wind. Really was unable to produce either power or spin up the climb and suffered with heavy legs and straining back muscles. After twelve miles I got a bit of relief as I vectored out of the headwind and into a stiff crosswind. I got a great deal of relief as I turned out of the wind in Dundee and was able to loosen up the legs and develop some spin. I was also able to pick my head up and look around. I was unable to find any snow though I suspect there is still some around in the back wood hollows. Final ten miles was quick with strong tail and following crosswinds. The landscape still looks rather bleak, but things should start greening up if we can get more sun. Forecasts are starting improve and I plan on getting out more than once every couple of weeks if they hold true.
