Temperature jumped ten degrees from the past two days and weather seemed ideal for riding although it still was a little too windy for my taste. Repeated the climb out of Watkins for the third time in three days and tried to push the pace a little today after a couple of days of soft pedaling. Kept what pressure I could on the pedals and kept a steady speed throughout the climb.I made the effort but didn't get very good results but at least I got over the top without collapsing. Tried to build some speed up on the false flat to Rock Stream and was aided by the use of the big chain ring that is now legal for me to use since I finally got the required thousand miles in with the small chain ring. Had another steady climb out of Rock Stream and felt good again although I really don't have the strength to output significant wattage. Felt strong over the top of Sugar Hill and felt good about the climbing considering the excess weight I'm sporting this year. Pushed the big chain ring hard down into Townsend and watched the average speed climb back out of pitiful zone and had hopes of a strong ride. Reality got a good hold on me on the climb out of Townsend and ride devolved into maintain speed rather than pick it up after that. Still had a decent day on the bike and was able to have acceptable ride. The Johnson Hollow section sucked the speed down but was able to fly with the big ring and the tailwind from Millport to Montour.
