Although the the temperature was quite nice the nineteen mile an hour wind that occasionally gusted into the twenties made me hesitant to ride. Legs were tired and didn't feel much like fighting a losing battle with the wind. Talked myself into a short ride to Watkins which started with a tailwind. Once I got to Watkins figured I would make the climb up SR 14 as long as I had the wind at my back. Even with the wind my efforts didn't amount to much. I did continue though up to Reading Center to complete an eight hundred foot climb. Goal on the second steeper section was just to stay out of the granny gear. Finished the climb eventually and had a fast decent back through Irelandville. The downhill pretty much neutralized the headwind and I only had the flat section between Watkins and Montour to contend with the unrelenting wind. Took the rail trail trough the swamp instead of the open road. Ended up with a slow ride that is mildly better than no ride.
