Weather continues to improve with some excellent sun and the big sky with no clouds evident. Planned on a medium length slow ride since my legs and back were a little tender after yesterday's long jaunt. It doesn't get much better than a warm sun and low seventies temperature, though I still would complain about the incessant wind. Spun easy on the first climb. I didn't really have a choice as the legs spun nicely but went numb if I tried to add any oomph to the pace. Found that my front tire had a slow leak and had to learn how to use my new hand pump. Didn't work well at first as unscrewing the pump from the valve resulted in my twice removing the inner core of the presta valve. Eventual I got some air in the tire and headed off once more into the wind. Wind was again nasty though blowing in the opposite direction from yesterday. Ended up with thirty miles of the stuff before finally making the turn. Really was pretty nice riding otherwise with the only hill out of the way early. Ran out of food and fluids late in the ride and would probably bonked had the last ten miles not been downhill with a tailwind. Had to stop in Horseheads and re-inflate the front tire again, and that is when I saw the only other cyclist of the day. Sad reflection on the year's crappy weather that I had one quarter of my year's mileage in two days in the last part of April.
