Beautiful sunny day for riding although the nineteen mile an hour wind kind of slowed things down. Needed to increase the amount of climbing and so started the ride with a steep climb up Havana Glen. It didn't turn out to be as painful as I thought it would be but didn't push too hard at the start of the ride since I had to do twenty miles of stiff headwind after I crested the top. Had a problem getting the bike into the granny gear as the slope bested fifteen percent and stopped to do some adjustments during the climb. Had cleaned my chain before the ride and guess it must have been pretty dirty since cleaning affected the shifting. Ended up with a below average time but was still fresh heading into the wind. Couldn't develop much speed on the rollers to the foot of Swartwood Hill and pretty much hunkered down and worked on staying as aero as possible. Thought I might get some relief from the wind with the two-mile climb up Swartwood, since it is pretty much a chasm in the hills. Unfortunately, the whirlwind was still present, but it wasn't as steady. Had a decent climb then hunkered down again for a few more miles of wind on the downhill to Erin where I got to change direction and picked up a crosswind to Breezeport. Finished the ride with twenty miles of killer tailwind and downgrade. Tried to get the average speed up to sixteen-six by the finish but failed despite a few miles in the upper twenties. Last part of the ride was a blast and overall, it was a fairly pleasant ride. It's pretty hard to have a bad ride in seventy-degree weather with bright sunshine.
