Warmed up nicely today but still had the north wind blowing that makes it much colder than the official temperature. Planned on doing one steep climb up Skyline followed by a milder climb up to Logan. Legs and heart rate didn't co-operate on the thirteen percent grade as I climbed steady but couldn't develop neither speed nor momentum. Heart rate didn't rise much above 100 bpm which is pretty much warm up. Didn't push it and went with the flow spinning into the headwind to Burdett. Felt a little better on the five percent climb to Logan where I got to turn out of the wind for a rapid descent down CR #2 to Hector. Hit the highway and tailwind back to Watkins. Was surprised that my heartrate got into the productive range on the grind back with the downgrade and wind. Felt better with the blood finally flowing and got some good speed in on the way home. Saw one other rider heading north on SR 414. Decked out in a kit but didn't recognize the kit nor the rider. Not a bad ride but better weather and a longer ride upcoming tomorrow.
