For the past few days I've been anticipating my ride to work this morning - really hoping the weather would cooperate so I could ride my bike and not be lead to drive. Part of my bike commute route goes by some of the area in Berkley that was hit with the tornado Friday night as it left the St Louis Lambert International Airport.

I've been able to view some of the impact already. There are trees along I-170 that have been topped or toppled, between the Scudder & Airport Rd exits. Plus, Sunday night returning home from the Cardinal game, we drove along Hanley Rd and could make out some of the devastation, but it was very dark as there was not power for any of the street lights, houses and businesses.

I intended on bringing a camera to get a few pictures, but it was at Jacque's office where she was intending on downloading picture we took over the weekend, and we've been failing at acquiring some good batteries - Energizers just don't last very long in such a device.

As I was turning into the parking lot at work this morning, I spotted a cell phone laying in the middle of the drive. I stopped, picked it up, and brought it in with me. After changing clothes and getting settled into my desk, before I could begin to find the rightful owner, it rang and I talked to the own who was in the neighborhood. A couple minutes later I met him at the front door to our office and returned it to him. He works for our neighbor Landis-Gyr.

A Good way to start the day.

Pictures taken 5/3 & posted 5/5.
