Today had a similar temperature as Monday's cold outing, but the sunlight made the day feel much warmer and quite pleasant for riding. Hit the computrainer hard yesterday and so didn't intend to push too hard today and milked the first climb up New Odessa. Caught a good tailwind out of Odessa and had a good spin and went with it and easily got a fifteen plus to the junction. Since I felt good, I thought I would put some effort into the second highway climb of the day. Started off doing poorly on the approach the climb and realized I had put more effort in across the flat then I thought. Kept a steady rhythm up the climb and had a mediocre result. Pushed the downgrade in the big ring and with the tailwind had the average up to seventeen at Horseheads. Thought I might be able to pull an eighteen despite the upcoming headwind if I kept an aero form and kept a high cadence on the downgrade. Figured I'd need to up the pace a bit until the downgrade started in Pine Valley and put the most effort of the day in the three mile section between Horseheads and Pine Valley. Got the number I needed as I went over the crest pretty much stagnated the remainder of the ride. Wasn't able to pick up much speed and pretty much collapsed through the final mile of the curse. Ended up short of my goal but had a enjoyable ride and a couple of strong sections and it was a much better outing than Monday's.
