Survived the double mega twisters that ended several lives and erased a few small towns from the face of the Earth last night. Had the night off as the plant I am working in was in the path of one of the big twisters and since the plant shelters lacked the capacity to protect the crews we cut them loose and let them fend for themselves. Rode out the storm out in my motel without incident as Oxford was spared from the destuction. Set out to the south this morning for a long slow ride, as I have not yet totally shaken the virus I had last week and did not feel much like either hammering or climbing. Very little signs of destruction in this area although I did have to backtrack a couple of miles because of a downed tree blocking a secondary road. Ride started out cool as the temperature is 25 degrees colder than last time I rode, but it got quite pleasant when the sun came out. Spun the small chainring at a brisk pace and had a very enjoyable ride. Had planned to go a little farther but Alabama is not big on road signs on some of the secondary roads and I guessed wrong a couple times and did not ride the course I intended but I was very satisfied with bad guesses as they all turned out to be good roads. Only had one dog sprint today but it wasn't much of a challenge as the dog slipped and fell while trying to get a good angle on me. I slowed a little to give him a chance to recover, but he seemed embarassed and trotted off back to his yard.
