Rain has moved on again after another weekend rained out. Decided to ride the Rock Stream- Beaver dam route again as it has lately become my favorite route. Since I did the steepest section of climbing last week in the big chain ring I planned on riding the entire course in the big one today. Wind was out of the north today which is opposite of what it was the last two times out on this course. Tried to get the early speed up before the first climb out of Watkins but didn't do to well as I lost a good bit in traffic. Had a steady decent controlled climb up SR 14 and pushed hard into the wind across the false flat to Rock Stream. Kept climbing well on the long climb to Reading Center and felt good with the helpful tailwind. Flagged a little on the Church Street climb but made good time with the tailwind across the flat to Sugar Hill. Both the Sugar Hill and Townsend climbs went well and speed continued to climb as I rode aggressively to Beaver Dams. Hit a low spot after turning into the headwind at Beaver Dams but couldn't complain as I had ridden strong for thirty miles. Picked the pace back up down Johnson Hollow and had visions of a really good ride. Came back to reality in Millport as the legs ran out of juice as soon as I hit the headwind anew. Went out of aggressive mode into a maintain mode as I tried not to lose any speed on the usually fast downgrade. Ended up dog tired but satisfied with a 17.4 avg. Beautiful day and great ride.
