Legs are pretty beat so opted for a shorter ride today with a good chuck of it protected from the steady eastern wind by dunes and jungle foliage. Had seen a short cut through a housing project close to my motel on the map that would allow me quick access to the Tomoka park without doing numerous miles on RT 1. Started hitting side roads through the project but most turned out to just double back to the highway or dead end. It was pleasant riding even though I failed at finding the short cut and was dumped out down in Ormand Beach. Got on John Anderson Highway and headed along the coast up to Flagler Beach. Came back down the Old King's Road and got stopped by a driver that was trying to find a campground on the road. Told him generally where the KOA was located that I had stayed at thirty years ago. He seemed to think that was the place. I had thought that the campground had been gobbled up with the rest of the wilderness by the ever expanding housing projects. Have many good memories and stories I tell of the place so hope it is still in operation, though if it is it is a closely guarded secret as there are no longer any signs giving clues to its location. Found the eastern end of the short cut as I passed through the park and now know how to find it from the west. Took it easy today but don't think much recovery went on in the legs as they still feel quite heavy.
