Started May off with a loop around Seneca Lake. Legs were a little sore from yesterday's climbing so tried to just spin it out today. Headed straight up SR 14 doing the express version of the ride up to Geneva. Had a decent though uneventful ride with a strong tailwind. Ride back was also fairly uneventful though far from decent. Wind seemed brutal and just tried to keep my head down and spin. Tried to cut through Samson Park but got about three quarters of the way through and found the road fenced off for construction and had to backtrack. Did a little exploring as I attempted to cross the park to 96A and ended up looping around small paths to abandoned campsite areas. Finally did some dirt paths and got back out to the highway near the red water tower. It was kind of fun being lost but it destroyed my average speed. Took the back roads west of Lodi instead of getting on SR 414 and found that for the most part the surfaces have much improved. There is still a mile or so section of dirt\ ground up pavement to cross which caused me a little pain from the vibrations but it beat facing the wind on the open road. Wind and tired legs prevented me from picking up any speed on the last dozen miles of downhill. Turned out to be a fairly hard day on the bike for a planned easy day.
