Thought I'd take a long ride today with moderate intensity. Had planned on starting early and avoiding a north wind that was supposed to pick up later in the day but got immersed in lawn work and got a late start. Got on the bike and was quick to discover that my legs did not recover last night. First section was a 38 mile stretch into the a headwind. Couldn't get any leg speed and or my heart rate to go above an idle. Decided moderate intensity was definitely out and decided to try to take it easy in the headwind and save the effort for the anticipated tailwind I was certain to pick up in Geneva. Toured to Geneva and made the turn into the tailwind. Riding with the wind was much more pleasant but still couldn't generate any speed. Decided to tour to Ovid have some lunch and push the twenty five mile descent with a tailwind home and get my average speed back up. That didn't work out very well either as now all I wanted to do was pull over lay in the grass and warm sun and digest my meal. Kept on the bike though and coasted home. Probably ate more calories on my lunch stop then I burned on the ride. Legs didn't feel any better after the ride than before so I didn't get any on bike recovery. I think the only thing I accomplished today was working on my tan. Still all in all a poor day on the bike beats working.
