The temperature was higher than Tuesday and there was less wind but the high humidity made it feel much colder. I have a hill race this weekend and thought I better do a little climbing, since I have done very little climbing this year and nothing of note since the Tour de Scranton last month. Opted for my all vertical short course with three good climbs. First long ten percenter didn't go very well as I climbed steady and made no effort to push the pace. I crested the two mile climb with my average speed near nine miles an hour which is way to slow to have any chance of a good day. Second rolling climb through Moreland went a little better as I was aided by a tailwind. Third steep climb up Bronson Hill was another time sapper and crested by the Nascar track a good two minutes shy of a decent showing. Had a strong down hill for the last ten miles but really didn't cut into the time deficit, as I usually have a strong downhill. Lost more time dealing with the construction on fourteen and finished well below the fifteen average cut off for a decent ride. On the positive side I didn't suffer on the climbs; I just failed to make a sufficient early effort.
