Tomorrow' planned century was abandoned due to a forecast of rain with temperatures in the lower forties. Four of us headed out on a substitute ride of a little under fifty. The Rock Stream-Beaver Dams route's First twenty miles has four climbs and took us up to Schuyler County's high point on Sugar Hill. Got dropped on the first climb out of Watkins but only by twenty seconds or so. Had to chase for three miles to get back on. Second and third climbs were better as I stayed with the front. I was helped tremendously by the wind that followed us up the climbs. Also kept up on the final climb though the pace wasn't that intense today. After we regrouped we started working a fast paceline. I lost contact on the small climb out of Townsend but caught back on quickly. Things started to heat up as we hammered down Johnson Hollow and was able to contribute to the line. Hardest part is not the pull but getting back on the end of the line as it goes by. Things got much harder as we hit a headwind on the final seven miles and we lost one rider. I was able to hold on to the end which sort of surprised me. Fairly hard ride today and was very satisfied with my performance.
