Todays visit to the doctor revealed my potassium level is low, caused by the blood pressure drugs. I'm now taking big horse pills for that.
And part of my heart is oversized. It pumps in fine but it doesn't fully relax, so it doesn't pump the blood out as well as efficiently as it pumps it in.
Doc says this was probably caused by my high blood pressure, and taking the BP drugs should shrink the heart muscle back to "normal". This could also be the cause of my chest discomfort during exercise.
The low potassium can also be the problem, and would explain my muscle weakness, and symptoms I had while trail building last month. www.emedicinehealth.com/low_potassium/article_em.htm
