Had a bonus day today as an incoming cold front seems to have been delayed leaving the area in the balmy eighties for a couple more days. Took a hard ride to Mecklenburg today. Started out of the saddle up Old Odessa and fell a little short of the end of the steep section. Recovered fairly quickly but really crack so quickly lately that I never dig very deep. Had a good spin over the remainder of the hill but finished a couple of minutes short of a good climb overall. Seemed to do better on the next long grade and speed kept slowly increasing. Had a great section of ride on SR 228. Kept the pace in the upper twenties for most of the way and had a couple of very strong surges. Second climb was fairly decent but was very costly. I pushed a steady pace at my limit and squeezed everything out of my legs at the top of the climbs. Actually surprised myself as the body recovered on the down hills, and I was able to still keep good speed in the shallow rollers back to Burdett. Rolled into Watkins with a sixteen nine and only lost a tick going through traffic. Put in a good effort into the wind to finish off with a seventeen in Montour. If I every get the climbing legs back I can take quite a bit of time off but was very satisfied with the rest of the ride. Turned out to be a strong ride and the third good ride in a row.
