Legs were a bit on the sore side today and didn't feel that I had too much energy to spend but am still trying to get the weight down and needed to burn some calories. Opted for the Sullivinville ride where I needed to do two climbs in eleven miles after which it is downhill for the final twenty-two. I would need to do some work at the outset but then could do some lazy spinning. Downside of the plan was that I only had a two-hour window between showers to get the ride in. Went up Havana Glen Hill which is the shortest path up the first hill. It is steep but I am light enough now that I don't have to struggle on the steep sections. Spun my way to the Junction and up the second climb. Plan was going well as far as the easy riding part but had used up nearly an hour on the climbs. That left only an hour to get the last twenty-two in before I would again get wet. Picked the pace up on the downgrades and got to Horseheads before I felt the first drops. Picked up the pace some more with the tailwind helping and stayed dry down through the slot. By Millport all the cars coming at me had their headlights on indicating they had passed through some showers. Got to the county line and the roads were all wet but the shower had passed through completely before I arrived. Finished the ride on wet roads but stayed out of the rain. Had hoped for a recovery ride but it turned into a Base ride instead. Got some miles in and hopefully burned off a little fat.
