Killer winds were back and really, really am learning to hate them. Thought I would do some climbing and headed out on the three hill ride. Tuesday's good climbing was nothing but a memory as I struggled up Hospital Hill. The climb had seemed much easier when I had done it without the wind tunnel effect on Saturday. Made the effort though but was soon on the edge of exhaustion five miles into the ride. Made it to Townsend and was hoping to pick the pace up out to Monteray but the wind put a damper on that. Caught some mercy from the wind gods as the gradual climb from Monteray to Tyrone was at least a crosswind. Still struggled and really started dripping sweat in the heat. Coasted the scenic downhill and tried to recover for the killer two mile steep climb up Sebring Hill and felt so bad I thought I might end up walking the hill. Killer wind though aided my climb as it was directly at my back. Had a little entertainment watching as my drops of sweat would fall a couple of inches and become entrained in the air flow and pass out of sight horizontal to the ground. Really don't think the drops ever hit the ground as they probably evaporated long before nearing the road. The downhill on Mudlake is getting treacherous as the road surface is abysmal. Normally it is a good six or seven miles of coasting near forty but today had to swerve all over to dodge potholes and washboard. There isn't any shoulder at all and found myself riding near the center of the road much more than I like. Fortunately there wasn't much traffic as I would have caused a good backup if there was. Really poor day on the bike overall.
