 Hill Climbing
More cool weather and howling winds today. Headed off to do six climbs New Odessa, Sullivinville, Lattabrook, Jeruselum Hill, South Harris Hill, and Chambers. Kept it in the small chainring all day as wanted to get some climbing in but have the 75 Miles of Montour race on Saturday and will need strong legs just to survive the ride much less be competetive. Started off with a good tailwind assisted climb up to Odessa and had another strong push to the junction but kind of iost my focus after that as I stopped at the junction and waited for a rider I had passed earlier to catch up. Chatted with him a while then headed up Sullinvinville.Did some lackluster climbing but never really got rewarmed up after stopping and had a worse climb than Tuesday which wasn't very good to start with. Spun the tailwind into Horseheads and had an easy climb up Lattabrook then more tailwind to North Chemung. Didn't do much on the flats but had fair speed with following north wind. Stayed in the saddle up Jeruselum then headed down to Elmira. Ride went kind of sour in Elmira as I turned back into the nasty cold wind and encountered lots of traffic. Started to tire on the pre-climb up Hoffman and had to come out of the saddle to keep the pace up on Harris Hill. Had to do some more windy sections after the descent down the north face of Harris and then got pretty bored riding to the next hill To Chambers. Really would have preferred to do more climbing rather than the windy flats. Legs were shelled by the last climb and again found myself having to come out of the saddle to maintain any kind of pace up the final climb. Had a few decent climbs today but didn't enjoy the ride overall because of that cold wind.
