A while back, my Mom gave me a picture of her Mom's house. It was a mansion. Grandma's (Christine) maiden name is Bettendorf. From what I heard, she grew up in a wealthy family, she had her own car as a young teen and would drive it to Chicago. Until, like many others, they lost almost everything in the great depression.
After more research, I found out that this is actually my Grandma's Uncle's house, She stayed there many Summers after her Dad (Charles) died in 1918 when she was 11 years old.
On our trip out west, it looked like we would be passing near Bettendorf Iowa.
I did some research and discovered the Bettendorf Mansion is an Historic Place, and is now used as a school. We made it our first destination.
